How can you improve your project management?

Project management is the motor that keeps your work flow and projects moving on their way to completion. It can be a very testing process, however, it can be less stressful with specific tools.

Team collaboration is shifting and shaping in very different ways; whether your work colleagues are located in different time zones or the same office space, you need to make sure you have the right technology to ensure your management is on top form and performing at its best.

There are significant factors that contribute largely to a project’s outcome. It takes careful planning, meticulous attention to detail and effective communication to make a project succeed.

How does one plan smart?

All shareholders and relevant team members should be involved from the start, this way they will know what direction the project is going. Smart planning doesn’t only keep the team fully immersed and on track with their tasks and team tasks it also updates everyone on the projects progress.
When initiating the planning process with other team members, timescales, budgets and resource requirements can also be shared and implemented.
It is essential that the whole team remains well-informed. If a problem arises, this can be resolved and addressed immediately.

It’s also critical that you make your team communication transparent and open; it’s straightforward to implement and will ensure that everyone is on the same page and they’ll never miss a thing. Applying an internal messaging tool and collaboration tool which allows you to organise and discuss projects is an absolute time saver. Take a look here.

“86% of employees and executives cite lack of collaboration or ineffective communication for workplace failures.”

So what if you work in a creative environment?
The majority of a creative person’s work is document based, illustrations, mock-ups, prototypes and designs. It’s vital to have a system that manages, organises and stores all document types. It would be even better if this system allowed a user to communicate, comment and edit these documents, so every team member is again, in the loop and up to date.

Introducing new systems will also help the project review and approval process. Especially for creative teams, a visual approach and real-time communications will eliminate confusion throughout the process and timeline allowing everyone to add their input when needed.

We can all agree that project management is a daunting process, however with the help of collaborative software and productivity platforms a lot of the obstacles and setbacks can be tackled head-on and save you and your team a lot of time.
